New crystal structures of fluorinated α-aminophosphonic acid analogues of phenylglycine

2020

The four novel phosphonic acid analogues of phenylglycine with various substituents in phenyl ring (mostly fluorine atoms) have been synthesized by using procedure of amidoalkylation of phosphorus trichloride with aromatic aldehydes and acetamide. The NMR, ESI-MS spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-Ray diffraction methods were used to characterize unusual structures: the amino-(4-trifluoromethylbenzyl)-(1), amino-(3,4-difluorobenzyl)-(2), amino-(2,4,6-trifluorobenzyl)-(3), and amino-(2-fluoro-4-hydroxybenzyl)-(4) phosphonic acids. Since the α-aminophosphonates have a potential for biological activity and could be used as building blocks in medicinal chemistry, it is important to know their d…

Coordination abilities of N-methyl alkylaminomethane-1,1-diphosphonic acids towards zinc(II), magnesium(II) and calcium(II) metal ions. Equilibrium s…

2017

Abstract Complex-formation abilities of a series of N-methyl alkylaminomethane-1,1-diphosphonic acids (1–7) with a common tertiary nitrogen atom (CH3−N−R) bearing linear or branched alkyl, cycloheptyl or phenylalkyl R substituents towards zinc(II), magnesium(II) and calcium(II) in aqueous solution have been studied by means of pH-potentiometry, ESI-MS spectrometry, 1H NMR and 31P NMR methods. The obtained results indicate that in the all presented systems mononuclear protonated equimolar and bis complexes are formed. In acidic and neutral solution, the formation of the protonated dinuclear species has been confirmed. The comparative analysis of the potentiometric and NMR data reveal that th…

Exposure to non-persistent pesticides in the Spanish population using biomonitoring: A review

2021

Abstract Although Spain does not have a regular national human biomonitoring program yet, different research groups are active in evaluating the exposure of children and adults to chemicals. In the last seven years, several studies in Spain have evaluated the internal exposure of the population to currently used pesticides. The present review analyzes the scope of these studies, the employed analytical methods and the main results of the exposure and risk, mainly for children and mothers. The frequency of exposure to biomarkers of exposure to organophosphate pesticides is high. Some non-specific dialkyl phosphate metabolites (DAPs), such as the diethyl phosphate (DEP), present Detection Fre…

Coordination properties of some nickel(II) monophosphono dipeptides species in aqueous solution: The role of phosphonic oxygen in complex stabilizati…

2008

Abstract Equilibrium studies on the nickel(II) complexes of oxygen and nitrogen donor ligand (monophosphono dipeptides: 1- (N- l -leucylamino)methylphosphonic acid – Leu-Gly(P), and a thioether sulfur donor ligands (monophosphono dipeptides: 1-N-(glycyloamino)-2-(S-benzylthio)ethanephosphonic acid – Gly-(Bz)Cys(P), d (−) and Gly-(Bz)Cys(P), d (+) were performed by potentiometric titration and NIR–Vis spectroscopy. Additionally, the ligand-field parameters (CFM/AOM) were estimated and discussed in the tetragonal distortion framework. The lowest tetragonal distortion was observed in the case of the [NiHL] species, whereas the strongest in the case of [NiL2] species. In the latter species the …

Determination of glyphosate and aminomethylphosphonic acid in natural water using the capillary electrophoresis combined with enrichment step

2005

A previously elaborated capillary electrophoresis (CE) method used for the determination of glyphosate and aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) was slightly modified in order to improve the sensitivity. However, detection limits attained (5 μg mL−1 for glyphosate and 4 μg mL−1 for AMPA) were still not satisfactory for analytical purposes, thus the addition of a preconcentration step before the CE analysis was proposed. AMBERLITE®IRA-900, a strong anion-exchange resin, was used to preconcentrate both analytes in environmental aqueous samples. The experimental conditions optimised in a previous work were readapted, by decreasing the eluent concentration due to CE limitations. Satisfactory result…

Biomonitoring of glyphosate and AMPA in the urine of Spanish lactating mothers

2021

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the urinary levels of Glyphosate (Gly) and its metabolite aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) in Spanish breastfeeding mothers (n = 97), to identify the main predictors of exposure and to perform a risk assessment. Urine samples were analyzed using a method based on solid phase extraction and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) determination. The developed method showed limits of quantification of 0.1 μg/L for both analytes. The detection frequencies (DFs) were 54% for Gly and 60% for AMPA, with geometric means (GMs) of 0.12 μg/L and 0.14 μg/L, respectively. In the statistical analysis, no relationship was found between the u…

Calcium binding and ionic conduction in single conical nanopores with polyacid chains: model and experiments.

2012

Calcium binding to fixed charge groups confined over nanoscale regions is relevant to ion equilibrium and transport in the ionic channels of the cell membranes and artificial nanopores. We present an experimental and theoretical description of the dissociation equilibrium and transport in a single conical nanopore functionalized with pH-sensitive carboxylic acid groups and phosphonic acid chains. Different phenomena are simultaneously present in this basic problem of physical and biophysical chemistry: (i) the divalent nature of the phosphonic acid groups fixed to the pore walls and the influence of the pH and calcium on the reversible dissociation equilibrium of these groups; (ii) the asym…

Synthesis of phosphono dipeptides, inhibitors of cathepsin C

1998

Abstract Phosphono dipeptides containing glycine, glycylglycine or L-alanine at N-termini and racemic phosphonic acid analogues of aromatic amino acids, as well as racemic alicyclic aminophosphonates, exhibit moderate inhibitory activity towards cathepsin C. This activity is probably due to the binding of the phosphonate moiety by a positively charged part of the enzyme which is complementary to the carboxylate part of the synthetic dipeptide products of the enzymatic reaction.

2010

Light-blue crystals of chromium(II) methyl phosphonate dihydrate, [Cr(CH(3)PO(3))(H(2)O)].H(2)O, were obtained in water by mixing filtered solutions of methylphosphonic acid and chromium(II) chloride in the presence of urea in an inert atmosphere. The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, TGA-DSC, X-ray crystallography, magnetic measurements, and UV-visible and FT-IR spectroscopies. The crystal and molecular structures (orthorhombic Pnma (no. 62): a = 4.4714(5) A, b = 6.8762(7) A, c = 19.180(2) A, Z = 4) have been solved using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The chromium(II) ion is six-coordinated by oxygens (4 + 2) to form an elongated octahedron, with the four equatorial oxy…
